Tie Breaker System
To determine advancement to the semi-finals or finals where win-loss records are tied, the following steps will be followed. Coaches should be aware of their point accumulation as they go through the week. Staff will post points for each team as we go through the week so each team can determine exactly where they stand going into games that will decide advancement. .
1. Win – Loss record
However, if teams are tied with wins and losses then we will go to:
2. Head to Head competition
However, if two teams with the same record did not play each other or if all the teams in the bracket have the same record we then will go to:
3. Point System
Your points equal the addition of the point differential in all preliminary games to a maximum of (plus 15) or a minimum of (minus 15) per game.
Example (+10, + 8, - 6 = +12) If two teams are tied in points, we then will go back to:
4. Head to Head
However, if the two teams that are tied on points did not play each other OR if there are more than two teams tied on points we then will go to:
5. Common Opponents
We will add up the total point differential in all games against all common opponents. The two teams with the largest differential will advance. However, if there is still a tie, we then will look at:
6. Total Points Allowed in preliminary games
The two teams with the least allowed points (best defensive effort) will advance. If a tie still exists, then the last resort will be a:
7. Coin Flip
Higher seeded team makes the call.
