What must I do upon arrival in Florida?
1. FREEZE YOUR ROSTER.
Each team is limited to a maximum of 12 players. Each team organizer or coach is responsible for reporting to the MBNC office at the Coral Springs Gymnasium no later than one hour prior to the start of your first game to add or delete names from your roster. Once this process is completed and you have signed your roster, no further additions or deletions are permitted for any reason. It is extremely important that you have listed all the players you are expecting.
If no one from your teams shows up, at 30 minutes prior to your first game, MBNC staff will freeze your roster with whatever names we have been given up to that point.
If you show up after the 30 minute limit, don't ask, don't beg, don't plead. Your roster is already frozen! As a matter of courtesy and to keep day one on schedule, just show up on time.
2. GET YOUR PLAYERS REGISTERED
Each player must complete an individual registration process and sign our “Hold Harmless Waiver”. No player is allowed on the court until this process is completed. Although we do have a number of players in our database, each player must present identification at the time of registration to confirm their identity and birth year. A drivers license is generally the best ID to present.
Players must complete their individual registration well in advance of their first game. Players registering a few minutes prior to game time will not be added to the Score book until the second half. Players registering after the second half has begun, must wait until the next game.
Players may register at the Coral Springs Gymnasium beginning at noon on Sunday, on Sunday evening at the Welcome Barbecue and again at the Coral Springs Gym on Monday morning at 8:30 am until player registration closes at the end of the day on Thursday.
IMPORTANT: All players whose names are on your “frozen” roster must be registered by the close of the day on Thursday in order to play on Friday and Saturday. No players will be registered on Friday or Saturday.
3. SHOW UP ON TIME
MBNC runs on schedule and we expect all teams to be ready to play all games as scheduled. We have built a generous margin into our scheduling and we are pretty successful in keeping on time even with an occasional overtime game.
It is the team organizer/coaches responsibility to have a minimum of 5 players registered and ready to play well in advance of all game times. MBNC is the premier Masters Basketball Tournament in the country and our Board and Staff considers late arrivals and forfeits, disasters of the first magnitude. Teams forfeiting any games simply won't be invited to return. Please be certain that you have enough players coming to allow your team to meet these standards. A solid 10 person roster is a very good idea to be competitive throughout the week.
4. HAVE A GREAT TIME PLAYING COMPETITIVE BASKETBALL!
If you have any questions about any of these procedures, please call or e-mail the Tournament office to make certain you understand how everything works. This is especially important if this is your first time to enter a team.
